Not just lustful petting but transcendental metamorphosis when you became aware that the greatness of this being was breathing into you, licking the sides and corners of your mouth, like sealing a thousand fleshy envelopes filled with the essence of your passionate being and then opened by the same mouth and delivered back to you, over and over again – the first kiss of the rest of your life.
A kiss that confirms that the universe is aligned, that the world’s greatest resource is love, and maybe even that God is a woman.
With or without a belief in God, all kisses are metaphors decipherable by allocations of time, circumstance, and understanding.”
I adore the surprised look Elizabeth Taylor has on her face as Richard Burton passionately kisses her. The bold kiss reminds me of when you stamp a wax seal on an envelope. {Yes, I still use wax seals}. This kiss really illustrates Saul’s poem with its metaphor of “sealing a thousand fleshy envelopes.” I think the kiss was for a Shakespearean film they did but I am not sure which one. Regardless, they were a couple in real life and probably had many of these types of intimate, transcendental kisses in private.

“The Latin verb scandere means “to climb”, so transcend has the basic meaning of climbing so high that you cross some boundary.
A transcendent experience is one that takes you out of yourself and convinces you of a larger life or existence; in this sense, it means something close to “spiritual”.
The American writers and thinkers known as the Transcendentalists, including Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, believed in the unity of all creation, the basic goodness of humankind, and the superiority of spiritual vision over mere logic…”
This poem is such a creative gift and it expresses why I am enamoured with Saul Williams’ poetry.
According to his book publisher’s website:
“He has spoken at more than 200 universities where his poetry has been added to the curriculum of dozens of creative writing programs, and has taught poetry/performance workshops around the world.”
[Chorus] All I want to do is love you (Oh oh oh, hey, hey, hey) I just want to take you there
[Curtis Mayfield] The world is trying to make us Go against our will There’s too many mountains Grown up from a hill Just take nothing less Than the second best Do not obey What most people say Cause you can pass the test All I want to do is love you Baby, we’ve got to move on up We’ve got to move on up
[Chorus] All I want to do is love you
(Oh oh oh)
I just want to take you there
All I want to do is love you (Hey, hey, hey) It feels like I’m already there
(Laughs)
[Curtis Mayfield] The world is trying to make us Go against our will It’s early in our language Of how the human feels
I just want to love you I just want to cry I just want to love you I just want I just want I just want to love you I just want to cry I just want to love you
[Chorus] All I want to do is love you
It feels like I’m already there
[Outro] x2 Son 3000 razones para darte mi amor {3000 reasons to give you my love} 3000 razones para darte el corazón {3000 reasons to give you my heart} 3000 razones para darte mi amor {3000 reasons to give you my love} 3000 razones para darte el corazón {3000 reasons to give you my heart}.”
The song was first released for download on Bran Van 3000’s website in January 2001.[1] It was then officially released in May 2001 as the lead single from their second studio album, Discosis. The single was successful in Canada, receiving heavy airplay on MuchMusic and reaching number three on the Canadian Singles Chart. Outside Canada, “Astounded” was not as successful, reaching the top 40 only in Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom; in the latter country, it peaked at number two on the UK Dance Chart. The song was ranked number 19 on MuchMore‘s list of Top 50 Dance Songs.”
Background
“Bran Van 3000 member James Di Salvio approached Curtis Mayfield with the idea of collaborating months before his death in 1999. Mayfield was too ill to contribute a vocal, but just weeks before his death, he gave Di Salvio permission to pull through his archives, which is where he discovered an unused vocal Mayfield recorded in the 1980s. With Mayfield’s permission, that vocal was incorporated into “Astounded.”[2]
Music video
“The music video was directed by Paul Street and premiered in May 2001. The entire video focuses on a couple french kissing and features shots of Montreal with the Olympic Stadium in the background.
The video features a cameo by one of my favourite actors Benicio Del Toro.”
Men and women whisper to each other because they have turned a sacred gesture into a sinful act.
This is the world in which we live. And while robbing the present moment of its reality can be dangerous, disobedience can also be a virtue, when we know how to use it.
If two bodies merely join together, that is not sex, it is merely pleasure.
Sex goes far beyond pleasure.
In sex, relaxation and tension go hand in hand, as do pain and pleasure, shyness and the courage to go beyond one’s limits.
How can such opposing states exist in harmony together?
There is only one way: by surrendering yourself.
Because the act of surrender means: ‘I trust you.’
It isn’t enough to imagine everything that might happen if we allowed ourselves to join not just our bodies, but our souls as well.
Let us plunge together, then, down the dangerous path of surrender.
It may be dangerous, but it is the only path worth following.
Let us forget all that we are taught about how it is noble to give and humiliating to receive.
Because for most people, generosity consists only in giving, but receiving is also an act of love.
Allowing someone else to make us happy will make them happy too.”
There are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness.
Someone you haven’t met yet is already dreaming of adoring you.
Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life.
Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God’s children.
A farmer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, “nourish them.”
Someone wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you.
Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favourite food is, and treat you to a movie.
Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give you — for free.
Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on.
The next great song is being rehearsed.
Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth.
Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.
Someone is in profound pain, and a few months from now, they’ll be thriving like never before. They just can’t see it from where they’re at.
Someone who is craving to be partnered, to be acknowledged, to ARRIVE, will get precisely what they want — and even more. And because that gift will be so fantastical in it’s reach and sweetness, it will quite magically alter their memory of angsty longing and render it all “So worth the wait.“
Someone has recently cracked open their joyous, genuine nature because they did the hard work of hauling years of oppression off of their psyche — this luminous juju is floating in the ether, and is accessible to you.
Someone just this second wished for world peace, in earnest.
Someone is fighting the fight so that you don’t have to.
Some civil servant is making sure that you get your mail, and your garbage is picked up, that the trains are running on time, and that you are generally safe.Someone is dedicating their days to protecting your civil libertiesand clean drinking water.
Someone is regaining their sanity. Someone is coming back from the dead. Someone is genuinely forgiving the seemingly unforgivable.Someone is curing the incurable.

“Sea inside, sea inside In the weightlessness of the bottom Where dreams come to fruition Two wills unite To realize a wish.
One kiss ignites the life With lightning and thunder
And in a metamorphosis my body no longer is my body,
It is like a penetration through the center of the universe.
The most puerile embrace And the purest of kisses Until seeing ourselves reduced Into the only desire.
Your look and my look Like an echo repeating itself without words Deeper, deeper Until beyond the realm of everything By the blood and by the bones.
But I always awaken And I always want to be dead, To remain with my mouth Entangled in your hair.”
Spanish Version:
Mar Adentro
“Mar adentro, mar adentro.
