Reflection for today…The Three Methods of Learning Wisdom -Confucius

5 Oct

“By three methods we may learn wisdom:

First, by reflection, which is noblest;

Second, by imitation, which is easiest;

and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”

Confucius

“In Japan, Conan, a male chihuahua, has been imitating Buddhist priest Joei Yoshikuni in the prayer stance.”

Reflection for today…Surprises About Humanity- The Dalai Lama

12 Aug

“What surprises you so much about humanity?

Man.

Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.

Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;

he lives as if he is never going to die,

and then dies having never really lived.”

His Holiness the Dalai Lama
