Reflection for today…The Enlightenment of Reading -Ezra Pound

25 Aug

“Man reading should be man intensely alive.

The book should be a ball of light in one’s hand.”

– Ezra Pound

Designed by Dutch firm Studiomeiboom, The Enlightenment illuminates your shelf rather your soul.
Made from plexiglass and lit by an energy-saving bulb, the lamp plugs into an outlet with a standard cord.

During my hunt for pictures in the universe of the internet, I came across a brilliant idea from a WordPress blog called: Words&Words.

He has an inventory of all the books he has read.

Recently, he has even added dates. Eventually he says that he will even organize it in alphabetical order.

What a clever idea.

Would you ever keep a reading inventory?

{Most people only keep reading lists}.

Here is the link if you are interested: Words&Words Reading Inventory

Goodreads is an excellent place to create readings lists and your reading inventory.

It really is a dream website for lovers of books.

Reflection for today…A Great Book- William Styron

A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end.

You live several lives while reading. “

“A Book Must Be The Axe For The Frozen Sea Inside Us”… -Franz Kafka

20 Jan
“I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us.

If the book we are reading doesn’t wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for?

…we need the books that affect us like a disaster,

that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves,

like being banished into forests far from everyone,

like a suicide.

A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us.

-Franz Kafka
