Reflection for today…Buddhist Soulmate Test

Is meeting your soulmate like swimming in an ocean of spiritual tranquillity?
Is meeting your soulmate like swimming in an ocean of spiritual tranquillity?

*

This reflection feels so refreshing to me because the concept of soulmates encountering each other usually involves feelings of anxiety.

I imagine feeling a profound sense of spiritual tranquillity upon meeting one’s soulmate.

I imagine it would be a relief to meet this person and it would feel like finding the last piece of a puzzle that you have been working on all of your life.

Instead of feeling anxiety, why not savour the mystery?

Listening to aqueous transmission makes me feel the spiritual peace that I am envisioning when meeting one’s soulmate.

Please enjoy Aqueous Transmission by Incubus…

90 Minute Long Extended Version…

“The final song, “Aqueous Transmission”, employs the use of Chinese instruments such as the pipa and is accompanied by a Japanese orchestra. The pipa used on the recording was given to Mike Einziger from Steve Vai.[3] “Aqueous Transmission” is 7 minutes and 46 seconds long, with the last-minute consisting of frogs croaking outside the studio in Malibu. Boyd jokingly said that the purpose of the song was to make “the listener pee in his/her pants” from relaxation.” Copied from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_View

“Lead singer Brandon Boyd: Perhaps our most ambitious work to date, was first conceived with an instrument quite alien to Incubus and all of rock music to be precise. A ‘Ko-kyu’ is what was used here and it was donated by a very generous and talented man by the name of Steve Vai. One late evening we began conjuring and experimenting with this track and it quickly brought to mind the image and analogy of floating freely down a river; hence the content of the song. Our friend Suzi Katayama, who has in the past worked string arrangements with the likes of Björk, Madonna and even Yours Truly for an acoustic performance in LA, lent her classical finesse to this story. And in doing so helped it become exactly what we envisioned; a song so atmospheric and vibratory, it would make those who listened to it doze off into a land of rivers, kung fu and unicorns, eventually making the listener pee in her/his pants. (Attainable goals I think, but please don’t operate any heavy machinery while listening to this one).”

“The noises at the end are thousands of frogs that were recorded outside the Malibu mansion where Incubus recorded Morning View. It wasn’t easy to get the sound – every time they’d come out to record, the frogs would shut up.” Copied and pasted from https://www.songfacts.com/facts/incubus/aqueous-transmission

“The final track from the album, it is a serene and enveloping piece. The tones of the Chinese pipa contrast with the strings in the background. Add to this the mellow Shakuhachi interludes and the ambient sounds and it is the perfect track for laying back and drifting down the river that the lyrics describe.” Copied and pasted from https://www.last.fm/music/Incubus/_/Aqueous+Transmission/+wiki

Thank you so much for this link Olly.
I adored listening to the Japanese garden.
Gracias.

A Sophisticated Quietude

By using elements such as rocks, streams, ponds, and islands interleaved with dense vegetation, Japanese gardens recreate the world in miniature. To the observer, they are a beauty for the eye, and for the ears!

Enjoy spending a quiet afternoon in our Japanese Garden, while a gentle breeze caresses bamboo leaves and a solitary wind chime. In the distance, you hear the rumble of a distant waterfall. Closer to you, the cicadas remind you that the summer just started.

This soundscape has been made possible thanks to the kind contribution of Daniel Mills, a fan of myNoise who lives in Japan. Among the various recordings collected, one in particular deserves a special attention: the sound of a Shishi-Odoshi, an ingenious device made of bamboo, which literally translates as ‘Deer Scarer’. The Shishi-Odoshi works from the water of a fountain to create a sharp sound, and is used as a scarecrow. It is often associated with meditational environments too, and serves as a slow paced timer.

Aqueous Transmission

Incubus

Produced by Scott Litt & Incubus

Album Morning View

[Verse 1]
“I’m floating down a river
Oars freed from their holes long ago
Lying face up on the floor of my vessel
I marvel at the stars and feel my heart overflow

[Chorus]
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river

[Verse 2]
Two weeks without my lover
I’m in this boat alone
Floating down a river named emotion
Will I make it back to shore or drift into the unknown

[Chorus]
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river

[Verse 3]
I’m building an antenna
Transmissions will be sent when I am through

Maybe we could meet again further down the river
And share what we both discovered then revel in the view

[Chorus]
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river

[Outro]
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river
I’m floating down a river.”

Stream of Consciousness Reflections…Mysoulsonfire…

6 Jan

This is a little story I wrote in 2015 but never posted it.

I decided to post it now.

Sadly, I no longer feel the same way about the person that inspired it.

He betrayed me with such passionate cruelty.

He shattered my soul.

He slowly tortured my heart and destroyed it from the inside out.

Through my pain and suffering, wisdom has illuminated me.

He is not my soulmate- my true love; therefore, I now dedicate this story to my mystery soulmate (whoever he is)…

*

Dedicated to all the Soul Mates out there…

It is said that when soul mates are about to meet, their energy starts to entangle. They start to exchange energy as they prepare to make a soul connection.

They met lifetimes ago but measured in human time it amounts to about thirty years ago. In the dawn of youth, their paths crossed briefly. Mysteriously, their families were deeply intertwined yet they did not see each other at social events. One wonders if they ever caught a glimpse of each other but did not really notice each other. Perhaps at the time, they did not recognize each other’s souls. Each set on their own path until they met again.

*

They set each other’s souls on fire…

She is humbled by his compassionate heart and spiritual presence. He is someone who gives without expecting anything in return. He knows the true meaning of altruism and he lives by it. One of his passions is to help people although he does not give himself credit. His humility is a part of his essence and she greatly respects his humble nature. He is compassionate, supportive and kind. He is a sensitive soul and a natural healer. He has a heart of gold.

He is her gift from the universe and she is so grateful for him.

*

“Divine timing allowed their souls to become entangled- enmeshed.” The universe did not allow them to meet until the time was just right. Each one had to experience a certain amount of suffering and heartbreak in order to mature and later on heal together. The stars had to be perfectly aligned for their meeting to occur. As the writer Paulo Coelho would say, “the universe conspired” so that they would meet.

Their meeting was truly electric and people noticed the attraction and connection. Family members took note of the kinship and growing friendship. Their lives were undergoing a metamorphosis as they grew to know each other. Each revolutionized the other’s life {as is the case with soul mates}.

He said the most romantic thing to her…”you came into my life like an apocalypse.” To the untrained ear, that may sound negative but to her soul, it was music and poetry. Her love of dystopic and apocalyptic art was mirrored in his words. Although apocalypse denotes endings, to them it was the genesis of their soulful romance.

He is her spiritual mirror and reflection {and she is his}. They reflect each other’s spiritual light and darkness. They challenge each other to learn, grow/evolve and together they heal and love. Together they have learned the meaning of faith and what it means to truly believe in someone. This faith has matured them and strengthened them in ways they are unaware of.

With him, she does not need her metaphorical armour. She is spiritually naked and vulnerable. She trusts that the universe beautifully orchestrated their meeting and their relationship for a higher purpose. He found her heart despite her hiding it. Despite her fear, love prevailed.

Anam Cara is the Irish word for soul friend. If you meet one of these kindred spirits, you should consider yourself blessed. They transcend the label “best friend” for they are the utmost manifestation of love and friendship. Compassion guides their actions as their loving presence is felt.

She saw this image on Pinterest and it warmed her heart to think of the possibilities of her life with him.

Please enjoy What Are You To Me? / These Days by UNKLE / Petter {Sasha Involver Remix}…

What Are You To Me? Lyrics

“(Day dream… day dream…) Day dream…(day dream…)

So many times I’ve overflowed

So many faces come and go

I play my cards into the sun And try to work out What you are to me To me

Been here before A million open doors Only one will set me free

So I fall against the wall And try to work out What you are to me, to me, to me, to me… To me…

Inside my eyes The answer lies Something I can’t see

Another day Another way It’s the same to me, to me To me…, to me…, to me… (what’s wrong?) To me… (to me…) To me… (to me…) To me… (to me…) To me… (to me…)

Reflection for today…Deconstructing Happiness -Karl Pilkington

2 Aug

*This post is dedicated to my friend Olly who is the biggest Karl Pilkington fan that I know.

Karl Pilkington is a critical thinker.

Karl Loves To Think Outside The Box…

Part of Karl’s mass appeal is that he stays true to himself. Despite his massive success, Karl seems to still be authentic. He is always honest, curious, humble and so funny. He is best known as comedian Ricky Gervais’ friend and colleague on their very successful podcasts The Ricky Gervais Show. He was the star of an idiot abroad and even wrote a diary about his adventures. His latest creative endeavour is the moaning of life.

*

In this short video clip Karl deconstructs happiness in relation to physical beauty/fitness.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnoIj624Wf8

Happiness | The Moaning of Life | Karl Pilkington

For the moaning of life, he meets a man who has had 120 procedures and approximately $150,000 worth of plastic surgeries. Karl posed without his shirt next to the man who’s had all the plastic surgeries. The interviewer says to Karl, “I am quite impressed with that you don’t care. You are happy to stand there posing with your top off. And let’s face it, you haven’t the best body known to man.”

I love Karl’s humble yet refreshing attitude in response to the interviewer. He replies that his body is “not a bad one…it works. But I understand that any women watching this wouldn’t go…oh, look at him. But that’s the reality isn’t it? That’s what most people look like.” Why is Karl’s physique so unattractive or unacceptable?? I don’t think it is by any means. It’s a manner of perception and what we are being sold {in an ideological sense i.e. perfection}. Most people prefer fantasy and illusion instead of truth. Karl Pilkington is the ultimate realist and he employs his critical thinking skills to deconstruct the situation.

Karl inquisitively asks, “So I don’t know what’s happened where they think that’s normal on the left.” Adverting has sent people on a relentless quest for perfection, beauty/sex appeal and youth. Men are now being attacked with similar psychological warfare that women are attacked with {albeit to a much lesser degree}. Even children are being groomed as consumers.

We are reduced to our exterior appearances- not even amounting to the sum of our parts. In the mainstream media, what we look like has solely defined who we are. Our rich inner life, emotions, intellect, spirituality have been erased from the discourse and divorced from our identities. I wonder what consequences this emotional and spiritual disconnection will bring. We cannot allow society, marketing/advertising to dictate to us who we are. Your self identity needs to be your own creation because only you know who you are inside.

The ridiculous new plastic surgery that Karl mentions is testicle ironing. What has happened to people that they need to invent these new procedures? Are they really that bored or obsessed with unattainable perfection? Why don’t people focus on true problems in humanity: poverty; hunger; war; abuse to children, animals, women, the environment; human trafficking; genital mutilation; acid attacks; rapes; racism, sexism, discrimination of all types; social inequality, etc? I always wonder what great things people could accomplish in their personal lives {and humanity as a whole} if we wouldn’t be seduced by this culture of narcissism and distraction.

Will people wake up to their own power in order to enact change in their lives and in the context of the world? Will most remain asleep? Time will tell but hopefully more will realize this matrix is a prison {if we chose to stay enslaved in it}. It is time to wake up and realize that emancipation from society’s brainwashing is in our hands. We hold the key. This quest for perfection, endless youth and eternal beauty is a social construction and an illusion.

No one will argue against self-care as caring about one’s health and appearance is quite healthy. The danger lies in caring too much because it can distract you from more important things in life that are more deserving of your time, energy and attention. Focusing obsessively on such trivial and vain things such as perfection seems like such a waste of energy, time, money and human potential but that’s just my opinion. As Karl says, “don’t worry about it.”

*

Do you agree or disagree with Karl Pilkington?

Why or why not?

{I hope to feature more moaning of life clips and Karl Pilkington in the near future}.

Please enjoy Clutching at Straws by Andrea Parker {from her Kiss My Arp cd}….

{I was lucky enough to see her in person when she opened up for Radiohead. It was divine and I loved her music}.

I copied this from her biography page…

“”Known as no1darker – Parker has always been uncompromising, passionate about the music and loaded with don’t–give-a-shit resolve. She has a love of art, arps, photography, architecture, graffiti, 808, concrete, glaciers, adidas, Bass, rust and all things white.  She is incredibly hard to pigeon hole : one minute she will be in the studio making dark, menacing, haunting music-  going from Booty shakin’ beats to string drenched ballads. The next she’ll be climbing mountains and reaching new summits; from Kilimanjaro in Africa to the avenue of the volcanoes in Ecuador.  She has worked for many charity’s, including Crisis, the NSPCC, Get kids going and many more, she even dressed up as Pudsey Bear for Children in Need!!  An old school analogue girl at heart, she still remains a die hard B Girl and is defiantly a freaky B*tch! One things for sure: She’d give the men in white coats a run for their money if they even dared think about taking her away…”

-Time Out magazine

“Beats so phat, so dope and so dark, there ain’t a NYC MC alive (cept maybe Rakim) that could handle them”

Reflection for today…Cosmic Order -Carl Jung

19 Apr

“In all chaos there is a cosmos,

in all disorder a secret order.”

-Carl Jung

*

I am such a star-gazer and lover of the universe.

Are you?

I think all of the secrets and mysteries of the universe are revealed in the sky.

Stars are like hieroglyphics etched above.

The night sky is so exquisite- mysterious yet revealing.

The sky in daylight also has its beauty.

The moon and the sun are proof that true love exists.

They are lovers and soul mates.

Please enjoy Subterranean Homesick Alien by Radiohead…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byN3JDPoJRo

“The breath of the morning
I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air

I live in a town
Where you can’t smell a thing
You watch your feet
For cracks in the pavement

Up above
Aliens hover
Making home movies
For the folks back home

Of all these weird creatures
Who lock up their spirits
Drill holes in themselves
And live for their secrets

They’re all uptight
 Uptight.. [x7]

I wish that they’d swoop down in a country lane
Late at night when I’m driving
Take me on board their beautiful ship
Show me the world as I’d love to see it

I’d tell all my friends
But they’d never believe
They’d think that I’d finally lost it completely

I’d show them the stars
And the meaning of life
They’d shut me away
But I’d be all right
All right..

I’m just uptight
 Uptight.. [x7]”

Reflection for today…Strength in Solitude -Paulo Coelho

29 Jan

On solitude

by Paulo Coelho

Capture

“For those who are not frightened by the solitude that reveals all mysteries, everything will have a different taste.

In solitude, they will discover the love that might otherwise arrive unnoticed. In solitude, they will understand and respect the love that left them.

In solitude, they will be able to decide whether it is worth asking that lost love to come back or if they should simply let it go and set off along a new path.

In solitude, they will learn that saying ‘No’ does not always show a lack of generosity and that saying ‘Yes’ is not always a virtue.

And those who are alone at this moment, need never be frightened by the words of the devil: ‘You’re wasting your time.’ Or by the chief demon’s even more potent words: ‘No one cares about you.’

The Divine Energy is listening to us when we speak to other people, but also when we are still and silent and able to accept solitude as a blessing.

And in that moment, Its light illumines everything around us and helps us to see that we are necessary, and that our presence on Earth makes a huge difference to Its work.”

In solitude we can look within and acquire infinite wisdom.

In solitude we can listen to our intuition.

In solitude we can be truly honest with ourselves.

In solitude we can reconnect with ourselves and our spirituality- our center/core.

In solitude we can reflect, grow and heal.

In solitude we can discover who we are.

Opeth Hope Leaves Lyrics
Songwriters: Mikael Lars Akerfeldt

“In the corner beside my window there hangs a lonely photograph
There is no reason I’d never notice a memory that could hold me back
There is a wound that’s always bleeding
There is a road I’m always walking
And I know you’ll never return to this place
Gone through days without talking

There is a comfort in silence
So used to losing all ambition
Struggling to maintain what’s left
Once undone, there is only smoke burning in my eyes to blind
To cover up what really happened
Force the darkness unto me.”
