Reflection for today…Unforgettable -Jim Morrison

15 May

“I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star.

Everyone stops, points up and gasps “Oh look at that!”

Then- whoosh, and I’m gone…

and they’ll never see anything like it ever again…

and they won’t be able to forget me- ever.

―Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison…Poet/Writer/Musician/Artist/Free Spirit/Beautiful Soul

verdillac:” It hurts to set you free, but you’ll never follow me, the end of laughter and soft lies, the end of nights we tried to die, THIS IS THE END! ”

Jim Morrison’s Grave in the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
It is a pilgrimage for Jim Morrison admirers to visit his grave and pay their respects…

James Douglas Morrison also known as Jim Morrison was a free spirit, poet, artist, writer and musician.

He is one of those artists whose art has a timeless impact on humanity.

Jim was a lover of literature, philosophy, music, poetry, art, drama, shamanism, independent and critical thinking, etcetera.

He had many intellectual, creative and artistic interests.

Later in his life he was developing a stronger affinity for the blues and poetry.

I would have loved to see how Jim would have evolved as an artist and human being.

For now his admirers can read and listen to his work- the creative gifts he left us.

Jim will never be forgotten…

He is unforgettable.

Please enjoy Jim’s Smile…

I adore his smile!!!

It is like he has a secret- so mischievous…

{Jim’s smile could melt the coldest heart}.

Please enjoy Bird of Prey by Jim Morrison…

    1. Love the quotation and its simile, but isn’t it a bit … arrogant? Wouldn’t it be better if such words came from someone else? In other words:

“I saw Jim Morrison like a huge fiery comet, a shooting star.
Everyone stopped, pointed up and gasped, “Oooh, look at that!”
Then- whoosh, and he was gone…
We all knew we would never see anything like it ever again…
And we all knew we wouldn’t be able to forget him – ever.”

    ―Oliver Hutton

I guess no one else would have thought to say it.

    2. I don’t know much about Jim Morrison. I am delighted to see he had such wide-ranging (and interesting) interests.

    3. Love the way he has to think about his first name. “Name?” … “Errrr, Jim.”

“Occupation.” … “Errrrrm.” So mischievous! He’s racking his brain for something funny, something alternative. Brain ticking over, he’s trying to pull a trick from his sleeve.

    4. I have not read Jim’s poetry books.

    5. Despite not knowing much about Jim himself, I adoor The Dores. Here are my favourites:

    “Light My Fire”
    “People Are Strange”
    “Riders On The Storm”
“Break on Through (To the Other Side)”
    “L.A. Woman”
    “People Are Strange”
    “Love Her Madly”
    “Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)”
    “The Unknown Soldier”
    “The End”

Further to 2 above, what are YouTube’s best Jim Morrison clips? Can you post some here?

Also, what happened to him? When did he die? How did he die? What links him to other musical artists whose lives ended early? Dinah Washington, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Tim Buckley, Michael Hutchence, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, etc. Were they destined to die early? Why did most of them die at 27? If they hadn’t lived such fast, intoxicated lives, would they have produced the same art, or any art all? Should we be grateful for the way they lived? How many truly brilliant artists make it to old age? Etc.

      Slayer Muser…
      1. Yes it is arrogant.
It is the rock star side of Jim Morrison {the lizard king persona} coming out to play.

Of course the words would sound better coming from someone else.
You are right though…who would say such things about him?
Perhaps his female fans, lovers and groupies?

      2. I don’t know that much about Jim Morrison either but I would like to do further research.
I am especially interested in him as a poet/philosopher and an intellectual…James Douglas Morrison the poet.

      3. He is so mischievous and was probably trying to conjure up a trick up his metaphorical sleeve.

      4. I am curious if you would like Jim’s poetry.

      Perhaps I shall post some?

      5. I am so happy to hear you adore The Doors as much as I do.
The End is my favourite but there are many, many others.
I will have to get back to you about his or just do a post.

      Peace & Love…

    “Raymon Daniel Manzarek.”

    “Born 2.12.39.”

    “Musician. Oredist.”

    [Cue Jim (probably stoned)]

    “Er, Jim.”

Ray had such a deep voice.

      As for Jim…
I don’t think he was stoned.
He seemed quite lucid to me.
