“People fear death even more than pain.
It’s strange that they fear death.
Life hurts a lot more than death.
At the point of death, the pain is over.
Yeah, I guess it is a friend.”
Jim…you were too enlightened for us.
Your wild and free spirit lives on…so does your poetry and music.

I just had to include one of my favourite songs by The Doors as it is relevant.

“This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes…again…”-The Doors, The End

Do you agree with Jim?
Why or why not?

Thank you for a very thoughtful post. Cheers!
That can’t be the last picture taken of him because he shaved his beard a while before he died.
Nick…
My apologies for taking so long to respond.
Thank you for letting me know that it isn’t the last picture taken of Jim.
Thanks for reading and commenting.
Cheers.
I don’t think Jim, in reality, knew how to love. he knew how to love himself and by that I mean self indulge and self destruct. He was testing God. I hope God forgives him and he’s doing okay now.
Thank you for your insightful comment.
It is possible that Jim didn’t know how to love in a truly authentic way.
I believe that his addictions eclipsed his vulnerability and possibly limited his creative potential.
He did indulge in drugs, alcohol and women.
Sadly, these addictions only fueled his self-destruction.
I only have compassion for his suffering.
I would have loved to have known the poetic side of Jim more.
It seems as though living in Paris birthed a creative renaissance for him.
Have you ever read his poetry books?
I was really intrigued by your observation of Jim testing God.
Can you please elaborate on this?
Thanks kindly.
-V.
P.s. I also hope he is forgiven and is free from all suffering.
