Reflection for today…Depression -Gabriel Byrne

7 Jul

” A single negative thought begins in your head.

That single negative thought interacts with another negative thought and becomes a reality.

And the world seems like the darkest, bleakest, blackest place that you can possibly be.

And it has nothing to do with logic, it has nothing to do with reality.

It’s a chemical, and I suppose ultimately becomes a spiritual imbalance in the body and in the mind.

But it feels like the truth.

That’s what’s so insidious about it.

Totally agree with the mental process, really need to be aware. Love this quote, kind of an antidote to a certain kind of depression:
“As a human you are a very sophisticated machine.
You are part of the magnetic field of the Universe and have the capacity
to reach out unto Infinity or to become totally depressed.
It is your choice that matters.”

Thank you for reading and commenting.

Depression is a very complex disease- or imbalance as Gabriel puts it.

One must do what one can to get out of the abyss of depression.

I hope to write more about depression and healing from it in the future.

      Kind Regards.

I hope I didn’t sound like there was a simple solution to depression, certainly not, and it may not be a choice for many to get out of it, alone.

Of course I understood what you meant.
I just wanted to add a personal thought.
Depression is not simple and neither are the solutions.

Getting out of depression is quite the challenge.
Even if one gets “help” for depression, one still has to do the work and walk the path alone.

One has to go through the fire- through the dark night of the soul.
